Justin H. King Named to 2026 Super Lawyers List: What This Peer-Reviewed Recognition Means for Inland Empire Injury Victims
By Justin H. King, Esq. | Published February 2026
I am honored to share that Super Lawyers has named me to the 2026 Super Lawyers list for Personal Injury Litigation in Southern California. This distinction recognizes the top 5% of attorneys in California through a patented, peer-influenced selection process administered by Thomson Reuters.
For anyone who has been injured in a car accident, truck collision, or other serious incident in Rancho Cucamonga or the Inland Empire, I understand that awards and recognitions are not what matter most to you. What matters is whether your attorney has the skill, the experience, and the peer-validated track record to fight for the outcome your family deserves. That is the context in which I want to explain what this recognition means and why the process behind it is relevant to anyone searching for a personal injury lawyer.
What Is the Super Lawyers Selection Process?
Super Lawyers is a rating service published by Thomson Reuters that identifies outstanding attorneys across more than 70 practice areas in all 50 states. Unlike directories where attorneys can pay for placement, the Super Lawyers selection process is peer-influenced, research-driven, and patented (U.S. Patent No. 8,412,564). Attorneys cannot nominate themselves, and advertising plays no role in the selection.
The process involves three phases. First, practicing attorneys across California are invited to nominate colleagues they have personally observed in action — whether as opposing counsel, co-counsel, or in the courtroom. Out-of-firm nominations carry significantly more weight than in-firm nominations, and the system includes safeguards against “back-scratch” or “block” nominations.
Second, the Super Lawyers research department evaluates each candidate across 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, including: verdicts and settlements, representative clients, experience, honors and awards, special licenses and certifications, position within the law firm, bar and professional activity, pro bono and community service, scholarly lectures and writings, education and employment background, and other outstanding achievements. These indicators are weighted differently, with some carrying a higher maximum point value than others.
Third, the highest-scoring candidates in each practice area are asked to serve on a Blue Ribbon Panel, where they evaluate and rate other candidates within their specialty on a standardized scale. Candidates are grouped by firm size, ensuring that solo and small-firm attorneys are evaluated alongside peers of similar size rather than against large-firm attorneys.
The final published list represents no more than 5% of the lawyers in the state. Being listed one year does not guarantee selection the following year — the entire process resets annually.
My Path from Rising Star to Super Lawyer
Before earning selection to the full Super Lawyers list, I was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers every year from 2017 through 2022. The Rising Stars list recognizes the top 2.5% of attorneys who are either under 40 or have been practicing for 10 years or less. Rising Stars undergo the same evaluation process as the full Super Lawyers list, with the additional age or experience threshold.
In 2025, I was selected to the full Super Lawyers list for the first time, and I am grateful to have been selected again in 2026. This progression — from six consecutive years as a Rising Star to two consecutive years on the full Super Lawyers list — reflects the growth of our firm and the trust that fellow attorneys in California have placed in the work we do for our clients.
Why Peer-Reviewed Recognition Matters When Choosing a Personal Injury Lawyer
If you or a family member has been injured in an accident and you are researching attorneys, you will encounter many different types of awards and recognitions. Some are meaningful. Others are pay-to-play marketing tools that any attorney can purchase. Here is how to distinguish between the two.
Peer-reviewed recognitions — such as Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent rating — are based on evaluations by other practicing attorneys who have observed the lawyer’s work firsthand. These organizations do not allow attorneys to pay for inclusion. The opinions of fellow lawyers who have seen you perform in the courtroom, in depositions, and during negotiations carry weight because those are the people who understand the difference between effective advocacy and mere advertising.
In contrast, many online “badges” and “awards” can be purchased outright. A critical eye serves you well when evaluating any attorney’s credentials.
A Broader Record of Peer-Reviewed Recognition
The 2026 Super Lawyers selection is part of a broader pattern of peer-reviewed recognition that our firm has earned over the past decade:
Best Lawyers in America® (2025 and 2026): I was individually selected by Best Lawyers in both Personal Injury Litigation and Mass Tort Litigation for 2025 and 2026. Lawyers on the list are reviewed entirely by their peers based on professional expertise, and there is no fee to be listed. Our firm — The Law Offices of Justin H. King — was also named a Tier 1 Best Law Firm for the Inland Empire in 2026, a distinction that places the firm among the top 2% of law firms in the nation according to Best Lawyers.
Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent® Rating: I hold the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which represents the highest possible peer-review rating for both legal ability and ethical standards. Fewer than 8% of attorneys nationwide hold this rating. Martindale-Hubbell has been the standard for attorney peer review since 1868.
National Trial Lawyers: I was named to the Top 40 Under 40 – Civil Plaintiff list in 2015 and the Top 100 Civil Plaintiff Trial Lawyers list in 2016 by the National Trial Lawyers.
Additional recognitions: I was nominated for Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Consumer Attorneys of the Inland Empire in 2023 and received the 2025 Access to Justice Award from the Legal Aid Society of San Bernardino County. I have also been named a Top Attorney in Southern California by Los Angeles Magazine annually since 2017, and I maintain a perfect 10 out of 10 client rating on Avvo.
Service to the Legal Community and the Public
I believe that the practice of law carries obligations that extend beyond individual client representation. Throughout my career, I have sought to contribute to the profession and to the community that our firm serves.
I served as President of the San Bernardino County Bar Association for 2024–2025 and am a Past President of both the Consumer Attorneys of the Inland Empire and the Western San Bernardino County Bar Association. I have served on the Board of Directors of the Consumer Attorneys of California (Inland Empire) since 2015 and continue to serve as Treasurer of the John Lewis King Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to law students.
I also contribute to the profession through legal writing and education. My work has been published in the Daily Journal, The Recorder, Legal Reader, and other legal publications, and I regularly speak at Consumer Attorneys of California seminars on topics including trial strategy, damages maximization, social media and jury selection, and product-defect litigation.
A Family Legacy of Legal Service in the Inland Empire
The King family’s legal service in the Inland Empire spans nearly a century, beginning with my grandfather, the late John Lewis King, who was recognized by the San Bernardino County Bar Association as “the Greatest Attorney in San Bernardino County History.” His legacy of advocacy and public service is one that my brothers and I carry forward every day.
Today, I practice alongside my brothers Jonathan L. King, Esq. and Oliver P. King, Esq. at The Law Offices of Justin H. King. All three of us were individually recognized in the 2025 Best Lawyers in America list. Jonathan brings experience from Skadden Arps and Gibson Dunn, two of the most prestigious law firms in the country. Oliver is a licensed NFLPA agent in addition to being a practicing attorney. Together, we combine diverse legal backgrounds with a shared commitment to fighting for the rights of injured people in our community.
Proven Results in Serious Injury and Wrongful Death Cases
Awards reflect the opinions of peers. Results reflect the outcomes achieved for real clients in real cases. Our firm’s reported case results include:
$4.75 million — Medical negligence resulting in a catastrophic traumatic brain injury. $4.35 million — Defective product and bus accident resulting in severe head trauma. $3.25 million — Rear-end collision involving a distracted law enforcement officer driving an unmarked police vehicle on the 210 Freeway. $2.5 million — Traumatic brain injury case. $2 million jury verdict — Dangerous condition of public property case against the City of Redlands, which led to the city removing the hazard within days of the verdict. $1.139 million — Sexual assault and institutional liability case against the Los Angeles Archdiocese.
I also currently serve as lead counsel in a statewide insurance bad-faith class action against National General Insurance Company on behalf of thousands of California consumers whose auto insurance policies were wrongfully rescinded. This case was featured on NBC News.
Every case is different, and past results do not guarantee future outcomes. But these results reflect the approach we take: thorough preparation, early expert retention, and the willingness to take every case to trial if that is what it takes to achieve a just result.

The Law Offices of Justin H. King represents injury victims and their families in cases involving car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle collisions, pedestrian accidents, bicycle accidents, wrongful death, premises liability, slip and fall injuries, dog bites, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, burn injuries, construction accidents, product liability, sexual assault, institutional abuse, and insurance bad faith. Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and earned my Juris Doctor from the University of California Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) in 2009. I have been licensed to practice law in California since 2010 and am admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Northern Districts of California.
Before founding The Law Offices of Justin H. King in 2016, I began my career as a class action attorney representing California consumers in corporate price-fixing cases. I then spent several years as an insurance defense attorney, where I defended personal injury cases through trial and gained direct insight into the litigation strategies used by the insurance industry. That experience — understanding how insurers evaluate, value, and fight claims from the inside — is one of the most significant advantages I bring to my clients today.
