Man Arrested Following Multi-Vehicle Collision in Chino, Ca

Chino, CA (February 15, 2020) Following the hospitalization of a 44 year-old man after a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on February 7th, he was placed under arrest by the Chino Police Department on suspicion of driving under the influence at the time of the accident.

According to Chino Police, the multi-vehicle accident occurred on the intersection of El Prado Rd. and Kimball Ave. The suspect, Sandeep Vashisht, was booked at the West Valley Detention Center on a $25,000 bail. Records indicate that he was released on Tuesday after posting bail.

The multi-vehicle accident took place on the evening of February 7th, where responding officers learned that the suspect fled the scene before he could be apprehended. As he attempted to flee, Vashisht drove through a construction site and crashed with a commercial cement vehicle. He was transported to a hospital where he left against medical advice. He was arrested three days after in a home in south Chino.

Other parties involved in the accident sustained only minor injuries and they did not require emergency medical treatment. The Chino Police Department continues its investigation of the case.

According to data published by the California Office of Traffic Safety, 356 people were either killed or injured in traffic accidents that occured in 2017. Many of these accidents involved alcohol-impaired driving.

While drunk driving is one of the most common causes of traffic accidents, it is not the only cause of accidents. Sadly, most auto accidents are the consequence of human error. In many cases, traffic accidents could have been easily avoided if the negligent driver operated the vehicle responsibly.

Leading causes of auto accidents across the nation include driving while distracted, fatigued, reckless speeding, and aggressive driving. It is important to note that there are also other factors that can lead to auto accidents, such as dangerous construction zones, poor weather conditions, or poorly maintained streets. Still, when an accident occurs as a result of another’s negligence, the at-fault party can be held liable for the injuries caused.

Based on the California Civil Code §1714, every person is responsible for the consequences of his or her actions. When a person is injured as a result of another’s careless actions or negligence, the injured party can seek compensation from the at-fault party by filing a personal injury claim.

Sadly, auto accidents can result in a wide variety of injuries that can range from minor cuts to fatal injuries. In spite of this, there are some injuries that occur more frequently than the rest.

Neck injuries are the most common type of injury sustained in auto accidents. Upon collision, a person can easily suffer severe whiplash or strain injuries. In catastrophic collisions, the injury can result in damaged discs in the neck or cervical dislocation.

When an auto accident results in glass shattering or a chemical spill, this can result in disfigurement. Additionally, many victims can also experience facial injuries that can cause deep scarring and disfigurement. These injuries can be detrimental to a person’s confidence and self-esteem but they can also cause extensive damage to the surrounding tissue, nerves, or muscles. When this occurs, a person’s motor control functioning will be dramatically impacted.

Although broken bones are common in auto accidents, they can be particularly dangerous when they cause internal injuries. A person who has suffered a broken rib, for example, runs the risk of also sustaining a punctured lung. Consequently, it is important to seek a complete medical evaluation after a car accident.

Common broken bone injuries include hip fractures, broken teeth, spinal injuries, skull fractures, broken ribs, broken pelvis, broken or fractured wrists, and fibula or tibia fractures.

When an auto accident is caused as a result of another’s negligence, the at-fault party can be held responsible for paying the victim’s medical expenses, loss of wages, and more. Auto accidents that involve intoxicated driving or multi-vehicle collisions can be challenging and may involve a variety of legal complexities. If you or a loved one has been injured in an auto accident, discuss your case with an experienced personal injury attorney.
